About the Author

For Lynn, the Civil War began in Franklin, Tennessee, where an exhibit of letters from Union and Confederate soldiers covered a wall of the small battlefield museum. After reading the letters, she realized how similar they all were. And why wouldn't they be? These soldiers had once been part of the same country, sharing history, language and culture. Why did this war have to happen? This question haunted Lynn and led her to spend nine years studying the Civil War. It also led her to write Will's War. Lynn lives in New York, but part of her heart lives in Virginia.
