About the Author

Now that I am getting older, I find life presents a few challenges. Chasing Pills: I Must be Old, I Have a Pill Dispenser, is a humorous guide to overcoming the pitfalls of aging-like unwanted body noises and the fear of dementia. Back when I was young, I married a West Virginia dairy farmer. Born in Brooklyn, raised on military bases around the nation and the world, I never thought I would become a farm wife . Until I married Ron in 1981, my only contact with milk was the dairy section of the grocery store. For 27 years I commuted by train to my job as park planner in a nearby county in a nearby state. My adventures on the farm are chronicled in Chasing Cows: I'm Not in the Suburbs Anymore. Immediately after retiring in 2008 I was elected to the Jefferson County Commission. The campaign was grueling and I was stunned by my opponents' personal attacks. I thought that only happened at the state or national level. I got the best revenge: I won. I reflect on my experiences as an elected official in Chasing Votes: I Got Elected, Now What? For the past 15 years, I have shared my humorous thoughts and observations about living on a farm, parenting, travel, serving as an elected official and growing older in different newspapers and magazines My columns have appeared in the Charleston Gazette Mail, the Hagerstown Herald-Mail, the West Virginia Observer, the Martinsburg Journal and the Spirit of Jefferson Advocate. When not writing, I spend my time locating misplaced items and remembering to fill my pill dispenser.
