Shenandoah Valley Book Festival

The first of its kind in the Winchester area, Shenandoah Valley Book Fest brings writers and readers together in a fun day of free workshops and information sessions, author talks, book discussions, and book signings.

Itinerary:

Old Town Winchester

11 a.m. to 5 p.m. — Author book signings and book sales at Winchester Book Gallery's new location, 7 N. Loudoun Street.

10:15 a.m. to noon — Writing discussions at Handley Library, 100 W. Piccadilly Street, in the downstairs conference room. Author Toni Shiloh will discuss diversity in fiction, and Shenandoah University assistant professor Kelley Crowley will talk about how to become a writer after the age of 50.

1 to 3 p.m. — National Novel Writing Month info session and planning workshop at the Hideaway Café, 141 S. Loudoun Street. All ages welcome. For more info, visit www.nanowrimo.org.

3 to 4 p.m. — Teen and young adult fantasy book discussion in Handley Library's downstairs conference room. Bring your favorite book, share a few lines, and let us know why it’s your fave!

4 to 5 p.m. — “Coffee with an Author” expert panel at Eugene B. Smith gallery, 25 N. Loudoun Street. We’ll have experts in writing, editing, and book publishing to answer all your writing-related questions. Free coffee and tea!

All events are free and open to the public.

We'll also be raising money through donations, a 50/50 raffle, and the sale of festival tote bags from Brag Swag of Winchester to support literacy in Winchester and Frederick County public schools, community children’s writing programs, and National Novel Writing Month—a nonprofit organization that every year challenges thousands of writers to write that “someday novel” today.
